Meet Dash, a cheetah living on the African savanna. Dash is the fastest land animal on Earth, capable of reaching speeds up to 70 miles per hour—that's as fast as a car on the highway! Dash's body is perfectly designed for sprinting. But there's a catch—Dash can only maintain his top speed for about 20 to 30 seconds before his body overheats. His muscles generate so much heat during a chase that his body temperature can rise dangerously high. This is why cheetahs must catch their prey quickly or give up the chase to cool down.
High above the savanna, Sky the peregrine falcon surveys the landscape from the clouds. Sky holds the title of fastest animal on Earth when diving for prey. During a hunting dive called a stoop, Sky can reach breathtaking speeds of over 240 miles per hour!
