Jack and the Beanstalk
Jack lived with his mother in a tiny cottage at the edge of the village. They were so poor that one day, his mother told him he must take Bessie, their beloved cow, to market and sell her for whatever he could get.
On the road to town, Jack met a strange old man with twinkling eyes. The old man offered to trade five magic beans for Bessie, promising they would bring Jack great fortune. Jack, curious and trusting, agreed to the trade.
When Jack returned home, his mother was furious. She threw the beans out the window and sent Jack to bed without supper.
But overnight, something magical happened—the beans grew into an enormous beanstalk that reached high into the clouds!
The next morning, Jack climbed the beanstalk, higher and higher until he reached a land above the clouds. There stood a magnificent castle, and Jack crept inside to explore.
Jack discovered a magical golden hen that laid eggs of pure gold. But suddenly, he heard thundering footsteps—Gorath the giant was coming!
Jack grabbed Goldie the hen and ran as fast as his legs could carry him. He scrambled down the beanstalk with the angry giant climbing down behind him.
When Jack reached the ground, he grabbed an axe and chopped at the beanstalk with all his might. The giant roared in fury as the beanstalk crashed down, and Gorath tumbled back into the clouds, never to be seen again.
From that day forward, Jack and his mother were never poor again. Goldie laid a golden egg every morning, and they lived happily in a beautiful new home.
Jack learned that sometimes courage and kindness bring the greatest rewards.
