اركان الاسلام

Seven-year-old Muhammad found Grandpa Ali on the balcony after sunset, polishing a tiny brass lantern. The call to prayer floated over Cairo’s rooftops, and the city lights twinkled like stars.

“Grandpa, why do we do so many special things?” Muhammad asked. Grandpa Ali smiled and placed five smooth date pits in a row. “These can remind us of the Five Pillars of Islam,” he said.

He touched the first pit. “Shahada means saying with your heart that there is no god but Allah, and the Prophet Muhammad is His messenger.” Muhammad repeated the words softly, feeling them settle like a warm blanket. The second pit was for Salah, the daily prayers. Grandpa Ali unrolled a green prayer rug and showed Muhammad how prayer is like a quiet visit with God.

The third pit was Zakat. Together they dropped coins into a small charity box for neighbors who needed help, and Muhammad loved the cheerful clink. The fourth was Sawm, fasting in Ramadan, learning patience and kindness from dawn to sunset. The fifth was Hajj, the journey to Makkah, which Grandpa showed with a postcard of the Kaaba. Muhammad gathered the five pits into his palm. “They are like strong columns holding up a beautiful house,” he said. Grandpa Ali hugged him. “Exactly, my bright little builder.”
