Little Red Riding Hood
Once upon a time, there lived a sweet little girl who always wore a red hooded cape her grandmother had made for her. Everyone called her Little Red Riding Hood.
One sunny morning, her mother asked her to take a basket of fresh-baked cookies and fruit to her grandmother, who lived on the other side of the forest. "Stay on the path and don't talk to strangers," her mother warned.
Little Red Riding Hood skipped along the forest path, humming a happy tune. Suddenly, a sly wolf appeared from behind a tree. "Where are you going, little girl?" he asked with a toothy grin.
"I'm taking treats to my grandmother who lives in the cottage by the three oak trees," she replied innocently. The wolf's eyes gleamed as he thought of a wicked plan.
The wolf rushed ahead through a shortcut to Grandmother's cottage. He knocked on the door and, disguising his voice, tricked Grandmother into letting him inside. He locked the poor woman in the closet and put on her nightgown and nightcap.
When Little Red Riding Hood arrived, she noticed something strange. "Grandmother, what big ears you have!" she exclaimed. "All the better to hear you with," replied the wolf in a squeaky voice.
"Grandmother, what big eyes you have!" she said nervously. "All the better to see you with," growled the wolf, his voice getting deeper.
"And Grandmother, what big teeth you have!" she cried. "All the better to eat you with!" roared the wolf, leaping from the bed.
Little Red Riding Hood screamed loudly. Fortunately, a brave woodcutter working nearby heard her cries and burst through the door with his ax raised high.
The frightened wolf jumped through the window and ran deep into the forest, never to be seen again. The woodcutter freed Grandmother from the closet, and she hugged Little Red Riding Hood tightly.
They all sat down together and enjoyed the delicious cookies. Little Red Riding Hood promised to always listen to her mother's advice and never talk to strangers again.
