Eli was a boy who loved to explore the wood near his village. Tall trees stood like watchful towers, and the wind whispered through the leaves.

One afternoon, Eli found a worn old scroll tucked inside a hollow log. It told a Bible story about David, a brave young man who trusted God.

In the story, King Saul grew angry and jealous of David. Saul wanted to hurt David, even though David had done nothing wrong.

So David ran into the wood to hide among the trees and rocks. The shadows were deep, but David kept praying, because his faith in God was stronger than his fear.

Eli read that some soldiers came searching, stepping loudly over sticks and stones. David stayed very still, listening, and he asked God to guide him.

Then something surprising happened. The soldiers turned away at the last moment, as if they had forgotten which path to follow.

David escaped again and again, not because he was the fastest, but because God was protecting him. David chose not to fight back, and he trusted that God would do what was right.

Eli looked up from the scroll and listened to the real wood around him. The trees seemed kinder now, like they were telling him, 'You are not alone.'
